Out now, the first of four EPs from The Lost World cinema film concerts. The complete soundtrack arrives on double vinyl and extended digital release on October 16th.
Download from Bandcamp or listen on Spotify, YouTube, Apple, Soundcloud. Live film concert for Chapter 1 will be a Sunday matinee livestream at 15:00 CEST on June 21st.
For Chapter 1, the grand adventure starts in London with unbelievable rumours – pre-historic dinosaurs are still alive on an undiscovered mountain plateau in the South American jungles…
As the daring expedition works its way backwards in time, the film score goes in the opposite direction, from the history of soundtracks into the future of electronic music.
For this first London segment, the soundtrack stays mostly in the 20th century era of traditional film scoring with symphonic orchestras, confident blaxploitation funk, haunting spaghetti westerns and swaggering vintage reggae. Upcoming releases veer dangerously into modern genres like jungle, hardcore, trap, glitch and the classic ever-greens of dinosaur beatboxing electro.
Next chapter 2 “Amazon Expedition” arrives in July, with a new chapter following each month up until the full vinyl and extended digital release in October. This release structure echoes the original release of Arthur Conan Doyle’s original novel, which was first serialised in the Strand Magazine in 1912.
For each EP, I’ll also perform that segment of the film as a livestream concert, with this episode scheduled for June 21st, streaming live on YouTube. These will be Sunday matinee concerts, at 15:00 CEST.
Note: We’re still waiting for clearance from the rights holders to allow streaming of the film, hoping very much a deal will be in place before June 21st.
